There are no benefits! Being a coach potato is where it’s at.

April Fools!

There is so much info out there on the web about exercising & it’s just as confusing as trying to figure out what to eat.

Good news is that science has defined what the benefits are to your health and what’s the best way to achieve it.

Here are some of the top benefits:

*Controls weight by burning calories

*Supports cardiovascular system by keeping your blood flowing

*Improves mood by releasing dopamine, the feel good hormone

*Boosts energy by moving nutrients & oxygen to your cells

*Allows you to fall asleep faster & promotes deep sleep

*Boost your sex life by improving your stamina

*Promotes social interaction which supports well being

To gain these benefits the research suggests focusing on the following types of exercise:

*At least 150 minutes of moderate (ie brisk walk, biking or swimming) or 75 minutes of vigorous (ie running or HIT) aerobic exercise spread out over the week.

*Do strength training (lifting weights or resistance training) to all the major muscle groups twice a week.

The key is to get the combination of both aerobic and strength training.

Be sure not to overdo it & make sure you have downtime to recover in between.

With it being spring time, it’s time to get off the coach & get active again & get exercising!

The key to success is to find something that you find enjoyable & can sustain long term.
