When I wrote about the ideal amount of protein a few weeks back, I mentioned that nuts & seeds are a great addition to your diet to help meet your targets.

But not only are nuts & seeds a great protein source, they are also have the following benefits:

*Excellent source of fiber

*Great source of key vitamins & minerals

*Almonds & pistachios contain melatonin to help you sleep

*Loaded with antioxidants

*Contain anti-inflammatory properties

*Rich sources of fatty acids omega 3, 6 & 9

*May help you to lose weight by keeping you satiated

*May help to manage blood sugar control

Pretty much all nuts & seeds are good for you, but I would stay away from peanuts due to being an allergen & are typically high in mold.

Just be sure to eat nuts in their natural form or dry roasted and stay away from anything that’s been roasted or coating in oils, especially soybean or canola oil as they more than likely will be oxidized or rancid which promotes inflammation.

So go ahead and reach for walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds & flax seeds & add them into smoothies, sauces, yogurt or eat them alone.

Just be mindful not to eat more than a handful a day as they are very nutrient & fat dense which if you eat too many will cause you to gain weight.
