It goes without saying the everyone wants to be in the best shape that they can be.

With tomorrow being the start of International Men’s Health month, please be sure to focus on the following topics to help promote your overall well being:

*Follow a Mediterranean based anti-inflammatory based diet with high quality proteins, healthy fat, fiber, water and balanced carbs. Research has shown this eating style to be huge win for the prevention of so many bad health issues.

*Focus on exercise & get your body moving.  Target about 2.5 hours per week doing sports, going to the gym, doing yardwork or whatever you enjoy.  Just get out and do it as you’ll feel so much better afterwards.

*If you smoke, please do whatever you can to stop asap.  I don’t need to explain this one any further

*Keeps tabs on how much alcohol you consume a week.  Ideally less is better, but try to target no more than 2 drinks per day.  Alcohol consumption inhibits the quality of your sleep & disrupts your gut microbiome, which can lead to many other negative health conditions.

*See you primary care doctor at least once a year for a regular check up, blood & urine labs, prostate and testicular cancer checks.  Working with your doctor collaboratively will help keep you in a preventive vs reactionary focus.  Prevention is key around optimal health.

*Set yourself up as a role models for your family, friends, co-workers & community members.  The more others see & hear about what you are doing, the more they will be inclined to do the same for them.

So get out this month and focus on the topics above & you’ll be on your way to optimal health & wellness.
