Everyone has experienced some form of stress from time to time.

It’s natural to come into a stressed state, but the key is to figure out how to get out of it so that it does not impair your overall health and wellness.

Chronic stress, just like chronic inflammation will challenge your body and if you don’t have the right skills to cope, you may start to experience:

  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Poor sleep or insomnia
  • Anxiety, depression, or panic attacks
  • Feelings of helplessness or hopelessness
  • Digestion issues
  • Changes in appetite, weight gain, or weight loss
  • Shortness of breath or rapid breathing
  • High blood pressure
  • Compromised memory or brain fog

No one wants to have to deal with any of these symptoms and you don’t have to.

The key is to know how and what you can do to build resilience to make you stronger.

Focus on the following strategies and you will find it so much easier to manage stress:

1). Practice Gratitude:

Say thank you, journal 3 things you are grateful for, or try not to complain

2). Laugh:

Reduces stress hormones, lets your body relax, and makes life more enjoyable

3). Deep Breathing or Meditation:

Slowing down your breath allows your nervous system to relax

4). Follow An Anti-Inflammatory Diet:

When you nourish your body correctly, your brain begins to function better

5). Get Regular Movement & Exercise:

Find 20-30 minutes 5x per week to do whatever you enjoy the most.  The key is to do it.

6). Prioritize Sleep:

Sleep lowers your stress levels and allows your body to focus on rest and repair

7). Community:

Engage with friends and family as much as you can

8). Music:

Listen to softer tones like classical or traditional jazz to calm your nervous system

9). Practice Visualization:

Visualize the mental or physical state you want to be in or the goal you want to achieve using all your senses to bring it to life.

Chronic stress can have so many negative health impacts if you don’t manage it correctly, but now that you have some key tools to help you, you’ll be in a much better place now.

No one should have to live life feeling “off” and you don’t have to.
