Kimchi, miso, natto, tempeh, pickles, sauerkraut, kombucha, olives, yogurt & kefir are all amazing foods that you should be eating each & every day to support your gut health.

Your gut microbiome is made up of millions of different bacteria, fungi & viruses.

Some good & some bad.

Our goal is to keep a balance between these two, with a greater percentage of good guys in there.

The best way to do this is by eating all the delicious foods denoted above.

When you eat these on a daily basis you’ll start to see:

1). Better overall digestion, especially with those soluble/insoluble fibers from fruits, vegetables, & whole grains, as the added microbes feed off of these fibers.

2). Improved function of your immune system, as the good guys kick out the bad guys & then work to lower your guts pH to be more acidic in which the bad guys can’t survive.

3). Improved energy as the good guys work to support the production of key vitamins like B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 & K

4). Lowered chronic inflammation, as research has shown folks with a healthy & diverse microbiota have fewer occurrences of the major health concerns in America today.

5). Help to rebalance your gut after taking antibiotics as they tend to wipe out both good & bad bugs & you need to get this back on track to help maintain your overall health.

As I promote with all foods, DIVERSITY IS KING.

Try to eat at least one of the above every day & try to mix it up so that you are eating different types of these every week.

The greater the diversity that you eat, the greater the diversity your microbiome will be & the better your overall gut health will be.

Note that you look to buy these, that you want refrigerated vs shelf stable items as they will have active cultures (ie pickles, sauerkraut & olives).

So go ahead and give these a try not just for better gut health, but it’s a great way to add flavor diversity to your meals too.
