Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins that you should work to optimize to improve your overall health and wellness.

There are two forms of vitamin D:

*Vitamin D2 comes from plants (mushrooms or from fortification)

*Vitamin D3 comes from animals (fatty fish, liver, egg yolks, butter)

Studies have shown that Vitamin D supports the following:

*Optimizes bone health

*Allows for better sleep quality

*Improves mood

*Enhances cognition

*Promotes mental well being

*Improves immune responses

*Lessens inflammation

*Helps to lower blood pressure

*Reduces pain

*Helps to lessen depression

*Enhances muscle growth

*Improves endurance

*Supports a healthy weight

Ways to increase your vitamin D levels:

*Go outside & get exposed to the sun for at least 30 minutes a day, as this is your natural way to make it

*Consume fatty fish at least twice a week

*Consume eggs & butter at least twice a week

*Add mushrooms into your diet

*Stay away from fortified foods as these tend to be unhealthy in the first place

*Be sure that you add good quality fats (ie olive oil) when consuming vit D rich foods as it’s a fat soluble vitamin
